Art of Distillation2018-08-04T12:30:06+00:00

Distillation is an age-old extraction method using water and steam to transform aromatic plants into essential oils and aromatic waters, also called hydrosols. The vessels and techniques that have been applied around the world are amazingly versatile. Yet, the most traditional instruments that symbolises the union of the trade would be either the beautiful copper alembic still composed by a spherical retort, an onion-shaped top with a long spiral pipe going into a condenser, or a glass pot with a long neck characteristically reaching out and bending down from the rounded pot.

With natural curiosity and inherent need for purity, I have imperceptibly delved myself into the process of understanding the beautiful nature of essential oils and aromatic waters. Hand-in-hand with aromatherapy, herbalism and perfumery I started digging deeper and deeper. Like a child experiencing with the moves to reach out to the source of good, while unnoticeably evolving its steps into the walk of life.

Hydrosols

My distillations are carried out with a traditional copper still, in small batches within a slow and artisanal setup. From my own inner need of high quality & care, I am using pure ingredients, either organic (by nature of source and not necessarily by authority stamps) or wild crafted. Each and every distillation is a new journey, a contemplation, an experiment and exploration finding bridges between the Spirit of Plant Kingdom and the Soul of our Human Nature.

So far, I have distilled the following plants, of which aromatic waters/hydrosols are available in 50ml glass bottles:

Bay Leaf hydrosol (Laurus nobilis)
